Our Library Programs

 
Books on Buses
The Mansfield School Libraries, in cooperation with the Mansfield Public Library, fill a bus with books each summer. The bus drives around Mansfield neighborhoods, stopping in safe locations, where kids can get on the bus and check out books with their Mansfield Public Library cards! We’re bringing good books to you all summer long! Click here for routes and times.
Books & Breakfast
This program is designed for kindergarteners and their caregivers to support preliteracy skills. Each week, students and their caregiver come to the school library before school for a special breakfast, followed by storytime designed to demonstrate how adults can reinforce literacy skills with their child. Click here to see an overview.
Birthday Book Buddies
Celebrate birthdays with the school library this year! For a nominal fee, students may choose a book that will be added to their school library (with a nameplate honoring their special day). A healthy snack will be delivered to the student’s class to complete the celebration. It’s easy, healthy and fun! Click here for more information.

Game Nite @ the MMS Library
Board games are a fun and effective way to practice strategy, math, listening and reading comprehension, as well as social interaction. The Mansfield Middle School now offers Game Nite at the Library, where middle school students can drop in to play a wide variety of multiplayer games, chosen for their entertainment AND educational value. Game Nite is held on Wednesday nights through the school year. Check back here in the fall for the 2012-13 school year schedule.
Reading Educational Assistance Dogs
Research and experience has shown the positive impact of therapy pets in a wide variety of situations. More recently, individuals have undertaken initiatives in schools to use Therapy Dogs and their trainers to motivate students to improve their reading skills, develop higher self-efficacy, and encourage a love of reading by having children read aloud to dogs. Click here to meet our dogs.
Summer Online Adventure Reading (S.O.A.R.)
Reach new heights with our online summer reading club, designed for middle school students. Students entering 5th grade can get to know some other students, as well as their language arts teachers through book discussions, in person and online, as well as fun activities that complement the reading! Click here for additional information.
