Assistant Animal Control Officer

Do you like helping people and companion animals? If so, we may have the part-time job for you. We’re seeking two responsible individuals for the position of part-time Assistant Animal Control Officer.  Duties include enforcing state statutes and town ordinances; impounding unlicensed and roaming dogs; caring for dogs and cats housed at the Animal Shelter; and preparing our annual canine survey. Ability to work independently, good organizational and communications skills essential. Each of the two positions is scheduled for 15 regular hours per week and being on call 2 evenings per week (in order to respond to emergency calls). Salary range $18.78-$23.76/hr. Must be available days, evenings, weekends and holidays and be willing to respond to emergency calls for service when needed. In order to provide a timely response to emergency calls for service, candidates should reside within 30 minutes of the Animal Shelter, or be willing to do so within the first six months of employment.

Deputy Fire Chief - Fire Marshal-Emergency Management Director

Great career opportunity! The Town of Mansfield is seeking a full-time Deputy Fire Chief-Fire Marshal-Emergency Management Director for its Fire and Emergency Services Department. This position serves as the Fire Prevention Division Head, planning, organizing, and directing the work of the Division. Sample duties include: planning, organizing and directing fire prevention and emergency management activities; supervising and leading staff; ensuring that all fire safety codes, regulations and procedures are followed; conducting inspections, fire and explosion investigations, and plan review as they relate to the Fire and Life Safety Codes. This position assists the Fire Chief in department-wide administrative matters as assigned. As the Emergency Management Director, responsibilities include developing and overseeing emergency plans, coordinating emergency operations during disasters and major incidents, and grants management. 

The salary range is $72,879-$94,748 per year, with a competitive benefits package. Hiring rate will depend on qualifications and experience.  Position requires some evening and weekend work. The preferred candidate will be subject to a background check.  The ideal candidate will have strong communication, customer service, and problem solving skills.

Candidates should have an associate’s degree in fire science or related field supplemented by extensive supervisory, fire prevention, code enforcement, fire and explosion investigation and emergency management experience. Required certifications include: State of CT Fire Marshal or Deputy Fire Marshal; driver’s license; (National Incident Management System) Certifications 100, 200, 700. Preferred certifications include: Advanced Fire Investigation; Fire Officer, Fire Instructor, and Hazardous Materials Technician; NIMS (National Incident Management System) Certifications 300, 400, 800.

Parks and Recreation Department

SPECIAL NEEDS ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR

The Town of Mansfield Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a part-time Special Needs Activities Coordinator to plan, organize, and lead developmental and age appropriate program activities for teens and adults with special needs 5-hours per week.  Work will include a flexible schedule for program planning, and leading an every-other Saturday evening social activity group. Successful applicants will have knowledge of the general developmental characteristics and needs of a variety of developmental/cognitive disabilities and the ability to work harmoniously with participants, parent/guardians, and related staff. Graduation from high school with some experience, training and/or education in recreation, education, social work, or related human service field is preferred. Training and general direction will be provided by the Recreation Coordinator. This is a part-time, hourly position with no benefits.  CPR certification is required within three months of hire; training will be provided as necessary. Application review will begin immediately. Certified Personal Trainers - Independent Contractors

The Town of Mansfield is seeking independent contractors to serve as personal trainers at the Mansfield Community Center.  Through education, motivation, and leadership, personal trainers assist clients in establishing and reaching their fitness & wellness goals.   Independent contractors are required to carry their own liability insurance and have at least one of the following personal training certifications: ACE, ACSM, NASM, NATA, NSCA.

Submitted materials should include:

  • Summary of experience and qualifications, demonstrating at least one year of personal training and program design experience

  • Relevant training and certifications, demonstrating at least one current personal training certification: ACE, ACSM, NASM, NATA, NSCA

  • Relevant education, preferably a four year degree in kinesiology, sports medicine, or related field preferred.

  • At least three professional references

  • Certificate of liability insurance

 

PRIVATE MUSIC LESSON INSTRUCTOR

The Town of Mansfield Parks and Recreation Department is seeking professional Private Music Lesson Instructors for a variety of instruments, including voice, to provide individual and semi-private music lessons to children and adults.  Duties may include but are not limited to: providing weekly comprehensive music lessons, participating in recitals, and scheduling of lessons.  Successful applicants will have prior experience teaching music lessons or have equivalent education. Hours include weekday evenings and some weekends. This is a part-time, hourly position with no benefits.  Application review will begin immediately. Positions open until filled. Pay range is $35.00 - $45.00/hr based on experience and education. Selected candidates will be subject to a background check.

SUZUKI GUITAR and SUZUKI VIOLIN INSTRUCTORS

The Town of Mansfield Parks and Recreation Department is seeking Suzuki Instructors for the Suzuki Guitar and Violin programs. Duties may include but are not limited to: providing weekly comprehensive music lessons and weekly Suzuki group classes, participation in recitals, and scheduling of students.  Additional information about this Suzuki program can be found at www.mansfieldct.gov/CSA. Lifeguards & Swim Instructors

Mansfield Parks & Recreation is currently accepting applications for American Red Cross Lifeguards and Swim Instructors for the Summer Season of 2016 for both open waterfront and pool lifeguarding.  All applicants must be certified in ARC Lifeguarding, CPR/AED and First Aid, both Waterfront and Water Safety Instructor certifications preferred.  Pay rates are $9.60-$11.07/hour for lifeguards and $10.23-$12.42/hour for swim instructors.  Applicants must submit an employment application online at
