Economic Development Commission (EDC)
The Town of Mansfield includes a federally designated Opportunity Zone for economic development as part of a census tract in northern Mansfield. This designation provides a federal tax incentive for investors to reinvest unrealized capital gains into opportunity zones through opportunity funds. Qualifying investments include a broad range of commercial and residential investments. If you are interested in learning more about the Opportunity Zone, please contact Cynthia van Zelm at firstname.lastname@example.org or 860.429.2740. A link to a press release about the Town and UConn’s work with the Connecticut Economic Resource Center to promote the Opportunity Zone is here http://www.mansfieldct.gov/qcontent/NewsFeed.aspx?FeedID=4025
The EDC’s primary mission is to promote the economic growth of Mansfield by monitoring economic conditions and making recommendations to the Town Council. The EDC plays a lead role in implementation of the Town’s economic development strategy and partners with surrounding towns to promote business development throughout the region.
The EDC meets on the fourth Thursday of every month (except November and December) at 5:30 p.m. in the Mansfield Community Center Conference Room.
