Bette Stern

Position: Recreation Supervisor
Years of Service: 12.5 (August 31, 1999)

Bette has been selected as our Employee of the Quarter for her sustained level of programming excellence. Bette’s quarter was highlighted by her taking one of the lead roles in facilitating the Mansfield Community Center shelter operations in November and carrying out a grant from the United Tennis Association for the Quick Start Tennis facilities. Bette also takes a lead role in compiling the department seasonal program brochures. Bette and her husband Paul recently moved from Ashford to Mansfield. In their free time they are renovating a historic 1694 home into a local B&B. Bette also enjoys knitting, quilting and home renovation projects.

Karyn Reviere

Position: Weekend Facility Supervisor
Years of Service: 1.5 (October 2010)

Karyn first worked as a receptionist at MCC through the University Of Connecticut work-study program. She was nominated by her peers for her leadership, ability to work well with others, and commitment to customer service excellence. Karyn will graduate this spring from the University of Connecticut in the field of Social Work. She recently was hired full time working for the Village for Families and Children in Hartford. Karyn grew up in Guilford and considered one of the best soccer players in the state. At UConn Karyn was a co-captain and All Big East player. She currently plays for the New England Mutiny Women’s Premiere Soccer League.

Melissa Hodgins

Positions: Senior Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor, Mansfield Marlins Swim Coach
Years of Service: 6 (June 2006)

Melissa has worked primarily in aquatics as a Senior Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor and coach for the Mansfield Marlins. She has also worked in other capacities including as an instructional referee for the Mansfield Parks and Recreation Youth Basketball program. Melissa has been is recognized by her co-workers as an extremely dependable and hard worker who has a passion about the programs she leads. She connects well with her students and is very focused on ensuring that they have fun while learning. A resident of Mansfield, Melissa’s brother Craig also works in the aquatics area at the Center.
