Public Hearing on Village Street and Transit Pathways for Storrs Center


September 27, 2011 – The Mansfield Downtown Partnership will hold a public hearing on the zoning permit application for the development of the Village Street and Transit Pathways in Storrs Center on Tuesday, October 4 at 7:00 pm in the Town Council Chambers in the Audrey P. Beck Municipal Building (4 South Eagleville Road).



The purpose of this hearing is to receive written or oral comments for the purpose of determining whether the submitted Zoning Permit application is in compliance with approval criteria for the Storrs Center Special Design District (the Storrs Center Special Design District regulations are available on the Partnership’s website at  The public hearing will include a presentation of the proposed plans.  Application materials, including project mapping, are available for review at the Mansfield Planning Office (4 South Eagleville Road), the Downtown Partnership office (also at 4 South Eagleville Road), the Mansfield Public Library, and online at



Storrs Center will be a mixed-use town center and main street corridor at the crossroads of the Town of Mansfield and the University of Connecticut and will feature retail, restaurant, and office uses with a variety of residence types all within walking distance of existing civic spaces, including E.O. Smith High School, the Mansfield Community Center, and Town Hall.  The Village Street is proposed to connect Dog Lane with Post Office Road and have an overall length of 1,752 feet.  Dog Lane connector and Bolton Road Extension will also be constructed to provide immediate connections to Village Street from Dog Lane and Storrs Road, respectively.  The proposed work entails the construction of the streets, sidewalks, retaining walls, landscaping, utilities, and associated site work.
