5/15/2014 - 05/23/2014: Town Square Now Open!

New Town Square Now Open

The new Town Square is now open to the public. There will be a temporary fence in place to protect the sod for the next few weeks.

The Town Square has been planned as a main focal point for the downtown. It will be a place of community gatherings for residents and visitors. Small concerts, festivals, puppetry performances, readings, and art shows are among the activities and events planned for the Town Square. The Mansfield Downtown Partnership’s annual festival will move to the Square and its surrounding streets in September 2014. Now in its 11th year, the Celebrate Mansfield Festival attracts over 3,000 people and is the largest community event in Mansfield. Other cultural and holiday events are planned for the Town Square including weekday concerts; monthly art fairs in the summer and fall; Halloween trick or treating; and holiday and winter events. Some of these events are traditions to which residents already look forward, and the Partnership hopes future events will attract a similar loyal following. The goal is for the Town Square to serve the role of other great public squares in New England that are the hub of community life and activity.
