The UConn Dairy Bar Ice Cream Truck will be selling everyone’s favorite sweet treat, and there will be healthy snacks, water, and popcorn available for purchase from the Partnership, Mansfield Fire Fighter’s Association, and the Mansfield Advocates for Children, respectively.

Dog Lane Café will have movie-themed dinner specials on the menu Friday. For Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the specials will be: Kai’ Lo Mein (Julienne Vegetables, Udon Noodles, Sesame Ginger Soy Sauce); BB-8 Pork Sliders (BBQ Pulled Pork, Cheddar Cheese, Cole Slaw); The Dark Side Chicken (Blackened Chicken, Mango Salsa); Tattooine Flatbread w/ Sarlaac Sauce & Boba Feta (Basil Pesto, Kalamata Olives, Tomatoes, & Feta Cheese); Maz’s Fish Taco’s (Blackened Mahi Mahi, Shredded Cabbage, Rey’s Chili- Lime Aioli); Wookie Cookies (Chocolate, Oatmeal, Peanut Butter, & Coconut).

The Ballard Institute & Museum of Puppetry will also join in the fun with extended museum hours and a free guided tour at 7:00 PM of their current exhibits, The Bureau of Small Requests: Puppetry and Animation of Laura Heit and The World of Puppetry: From the Collections of the Ballard Institute. Bart Roccoberton, Director of UConn’s Puppet Arts Program, will talk about the use of puppets in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in a special pre-film presentation entitled “Return of the Puppets” at the Ballard. The discussion is free, open to the public, and begins at 7:30 PM.

In Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the thrilling continuation of the epic space opera, ex-stormtrooper Finn (John Boyega), scrappy desert dweller Rey (Daisy Ridley), and droid companion BB-8 get caught up in a galactic war when they come across a map containing the whereabouts of the vanished Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). They soon embark on an epic adventure that brings them face-to-face with heroes from the past, as well as new villains such as Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and the First Order, a fascist regime that has emerged from the ashes of the old Empire. Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Peter Mayhew, and Anthony Daniels return to reprise their roles as, respectively, Leia Organa, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and C-3PO. The film is rated PG-13 and is two hours and 16 minutes long.
