Grand Opening of Farmhouse Crêpes

November 6, 2017 – From the gridiron to the griddle, the owner of the newest restaurant in Storrs Center has taken an unusual path to the restaurant business and is eager to celebrate the grand opening of Farmhouse Crêpes.

Owner Tahj-Anthony Jean is a junior at the University of Connecticut in Storrs, where he played football for the past two years. After inspiration struck for his new venture, he stepped away from football to focus on school – and business.

“I’m an entrepreneur at heart and have always wanted to start my own business after UConn,” Mr. Jean said. “I had a great new restaurant concept and family support so I figured why not now.”

Mr. Jean is excited to welcome the community to his new restaurant. He is passionate about giving back to others and to contributing to solving the world hunger problem, which is why one of the goals of Farmhouse Crêpes is to donate a percentage of profits to charities combatting world hunger. He will select a different charity each quarter.

“I think it’s important for my generation to understand that it’s not all about us. Despite the extravagance we see in social media, there are others who go without basic necessities such as food everyday around the world. We all can make a difference,” said Mr. Jean.

Mr. Jean is also interested in being active in the local community and has already participated in the Mansfield Downtown Partnership’s Celebrate Mansfield Festival and Trick-or-Treat in Storrs Center, despite just recently opening his doors.

The menu features sweet and savory crêpes and focuses first on healthy options packed with fresh fruits and vegetables. It also includes traditional options, such as “The Classic” with brown sugar and butter, and interesting combinations including the “Honey Ricotta” (lemon zest with honey infused ricotta cheese) and “Southern Apple Pie” (fresh apples, cinnamon, brown sugar, walnuts, cheddar cheese). Farmhouse Crêpes provides customers with the option of regular or buckwheat, which is naturally gluten free.

Farmhouse Crêpes will celebrate its Grand Opening with 25% off all crêpes all day on Thursday, November 9. Farmhouse Crêpes is located at 1 Royce Circle, Suite 106, Storrs, CT.
