1/19/2012 - 01/19/2012: Moe's Southwest Grill Signs Lease

Storrs Center Alliance Announces Another Tenant for Storrs Center

Moe’s Southwest Grill Joins Growing List of Businesses

January 19, 2012 – Storrs Center Alliance is pleased to announce the signing of another lease for Storrs Center, a new, mixed-use town center under construction in Mansfield, Connecticut.  “We’re happy to welcome Moe’s Southwest Grill to the growing list of businesses for the new downtown,” said Howard Kaufman, Managing Member of LeylandAlliance LLC, parent company of master developer Storrs Center Alliance, LLC.   Moe’s Southwest Grill joins Dog Lane Café, Froyoworld, Select Physical Therapy, and Storrs Automotive as some of the first businesses that will open in 2012 when the first two buildings are completed this summer.

Moe’s Southwest Grill is a well-priced, “fast casual” restaurant featuring burritos, quesadillas, nachos, salads, and fajitas.  The Moe’s menu features high quality ingredients, including cage-free chicken; steroid-free, grain-fed pork; grass-fed steak; and organic tofu.  There are children’s, vegetarian, and low-calorie options in addition to the made-to-order burritos and other Southwestern fare.

“We think Moe’s will complement the other businesses in the area by offering a new casual lunch and dinner option for Mansfield residents and visitors,” said Macon Toledano, Vice President of Planning and Development for LeylandAlliance.  “The goal for Storrs Center that we share with the Town, UConn, and the Mansfield Downtown Partnership is to find a broad mix of businesses that appeal to all tastes and interests.”

Mansfield Downtown Partnership Executive Director Cynthia van Zelm agreed, saying “Moe’s will be a great fit in Storrs Center and should be especially popular for the many E. O. Smith and UConn students, faculty, and staff within an easy walking distance of the restaurant.”

Storrs Center is a mixed-use town center and main street corridor at the crossroads of the Town of Mansfield, Connecticut and the University of Connecticut.  Located along Storrs Road adjacent to the University, the Town Hall, the regional high school, and the community center, Storrs Center will include a new town square across from the University’s fine arts center and will combine retail, restaurant, and office uses with a variety of residence types.  The town center plan will knit thoughtful architecture, pedestrian-oriented streets, and public spaces into a series of small neighborhoods that will make up the new fabric of the town center.  Ground floor retail and commercial uses opening onto landscaped sidewalks will reinforce traditional street front activity and will be supported by residences above and shared community spaces.
