• Ballard Institute & Museum of Puppetry (486-8580) (bimp.uconn.edu) is located at 1 Royce Circle in Downtown Storrs
and is open Tues.-Sun. 11am-7pm. Permanent exhibit: The World of Puppetry. Special exhibit: It's Always
Pandemonium; the Puppets of Bart Roccoberton (through Sept. 29). Call or check the website for frequent puppetry
performances for kids (also in calendar below). And be sure to check out the GREAT gift selections when you're there!
• Community School of the Arts (429-3015) (mansfieldct.gov/csa) offers instrumental music lessons for children (and adults)
plus other arts programs during Summer 2019. Check the website or the Summer 2019 Mansfield Parks & Recreation
brochure for a listing of all programs and registration forms.
• CT State Museum of Natural History & CT Archaeology Center (486-4460) (mnh.uconn.edu) has its offices on the
UConn campus. Kids will enjoy the AntU exhibit in the lobby of UConn BioPhysics Level One, which is open Mon.-Fri.,
8am-5pm. And don't miss AntU Day on July 25 (see calendar below) as part of the UConn Extension Service's annual Bug
Week offerings (July 22-27) at several other locations (bugs.uconn.edu).
• Gurleyville Gristmill (429-9023) (joshuastrust.org), located on Stonemill Rd. in the Gurleyville section of Mansfield, is
owned and operated by Joshua's Trust, and is open Sundays from May 19 through October 6 from 1-5pm.
• Joshua's Trust (Joshua's Tract Conservation and Historic Trust, Inc.) (JT) (429-9023) (joshuastrust.org) offices are located at
624 Wormwood Hill Rd. in Mansfield. JT currently manages over 4,000 acres in Northeast CT, most of which have walking
trails open to the public. Check the website for a list of properties (with maps), videos of some properties, scheduled walks
throughout the year + the Letterbox Challenge and Scavenger Hunt (especially for kids)!
• Mansfield Advocates for Children (MAC) (429-3338) (mansfieldadvocatesforchildren.org) is an organization of parents,
school personnel, early care center directors, health professionals and others concerned with the health, successful learning
and community connection for children ages 0-8 in Mansfield. This group meets the first Wed. of each month at 5:30pm to
discuss policies and programs to enhance the lives of Mansfield's families. Dinner and childcare provided. Please contact

• Mansfield Historical Society (429-6575) (mansfieldct-history.org) will be open Sat. and Sun. 1:30-4:30pm, from Sun., June
2 through Sun., Sept. 29. This year's mainexhibit: Fabricating Fashion: Female Enterprise in Connecticut, 1692-1865.
Don't miss opening day (June 2) with live silkworms available for observation and special hands-on activities related to the
exhibit, e.g., silk and wool spinning demonstrations. A smaller exhibit will look at the history of the 2 town-owned buildings
the MHS occupies.
• Mansfield Parks and Recreation Dept. (429-3015) (mansfieldcc.com) has many classes, programs and activities for young
children. Check the Summer 2019 brochure sent to every household for information about MANY summer camps,
community gardens, pool (and other) parties, rentals of kayaks and backyard game equipment, Family Fun Nights, fee
waivers for eligible Mansfield residents, and SO much more! And be sure to walk the trails in our many town parks!!!
• Mansfield Public Library (423-2501) (mansfieldpubliclibraryct.org) is a treasure trove of free books and other media for
children and their families and offers 3 drop-in program series for young children: Wonderful Wednesdays (all ages with
caregiver), 10:30-11:30am, June 19-Aug. 14; Family Storytime (all ages with caregiver), Saturdays, 10:30-11:30am, May
11-Aug. 14; and Toddler Time (birth-age 3 with caregiver), Fridays, 10:15-11:30am, May 10-July 26. Also check out the
Summer Reading Programs plus many special programs and events listed here throughout the summer.
• Questers' Way (QuestersWay.com) is located inside the East Brook Mall and offers a GREAT variety of activities and
programs year-round for ages 0-5 and older (including adults). Check the website for hours and current listings.
• Storrs Farmers Market (storrsfarmersmarket.org) is open 3-6pm Saturdays from May 4-Oct. 26, on the front lawn of the
Mansfield Town Hall, rain or shine. Something for everyone! BUY and EAT LOCAL!!!
• UConn Barnes & Noble Bookstore (486-8525), is located at 1 Royce Circle, Downtown Storrs. It is open Mon.-Fri., 10am-
9pm and Sat. & Sun., 10am-7pm, and has a GREAT selection of children's (and other) books + storytimes (Tuesdays 10:30-11:30am).
• UConn EEB (= Ecology & Evolutionary Biology) Greenhouses (486-8941) (florawww.eeb.uconn.edu), on the UConn
campus, house a huge collection of amazing live plants from all over the world. Open to the public: Mon.-Fri., 8am-4pm &
Sat. 10am-2pm. Due to local construction projects this summer, check the website & plan ahead!!!
• UConn Skating School at the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum (486-2712) (uconnhuskies.com/facilities/freitas-iceforum.
html) is open to the public for skating lessons for children ages 4-8th grade on Mondays July 8, 15, 22; and August 5,
12 & 19 from 6-7:30pm. Rental skates available. Call or check the website for registration details.
• William Benton Museum of Art (WBMA) (486-4520) (benton.uconn.edu) is on the UConn campus and open to the public
Tues.-Fri.. 10am-4:30pm, Sat. and Sun., 1-4:30pm. Special exhibits through July 31: Game of Thrones: An Exhibition of
