Position Announcement - Director of Facilities Management
Mansfield Public Schools / Town of Mansfield, Connecticut
The Mansfield Board of Education and the Town of Mansfield, Connecticut are seeking an innovative, dynamic, experienced professional to lead its Department of Facilities Management, which serves both the school district as well as the municipal government. The Department is responsible for providing cleaning and maintenance services to approximately 20 Board of Education and Town buildings plus additional accessory buildings. The Department has 29.65 full-time equivalent positions with an annual operating budget of approximately $2,097,040. The Director of Facilities Management is responsible for: visioning and planning activities; coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Department; budgeting and grant administration; capital projects administration; developing, implementing, and evaluating departmental services; and developing and administering departmental policies and procedures. The Director is also responsible for coaching, supervising and evaluating departmental personnel in accordance with collective bargaining provisions and other applicable HR policies. The Director of Facilities Management reports to both the Town Manager and the Superintendent of Schools.
Mansfield, with a population of 26,685, is located in the Northeastern portion of the state, better known as Connecticut’s Quiet Corner. Home to the University of Connecticut (UCONN), Mansfield offers a blend of rural, suburban, and urban living in a university setting. Storrs Center, construction of a new urban center, is underway. Mansfield has a variety of cultural and educational offerings, as well as an abundance of natural resources ideal for activities such as hiking, cycling, and kayaking. Mansfield’s current Director of Facilities Management is retiring after 10 years of service to the community. The salary range is $81,662-$106,154/yr with a competitive benefits package. The hiring rate of pay will depend upon the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. The preferred candidate will be subject to a background check.
A bachelor’s degree in facilities management or a related field supplemented by considerable facilities management and supervisory experience are required. Extensive municipal and/or public school experience are highly desirable. The School District and the Town will look to the selected candidate to provide vision and leadership to ensure that the Department meets the needs of the community now and in the future. The selected candidate will be expected to maintain our tradition of excellent public service.
Work Hours and Schedule
The selected candidate should begin work by December 1, 2014. This is a full-time position. The normal work schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday. The selected candidate will occasionally attend Board of Education, Town Council and advisory committee meetings, some of which occur in the evenings. This is an exempt position eligible to earn compensatory time for hours worked in excess of 40 per week.

Building and Housing Inspection Department - Temporary Housing Inspector
The Town is seeking a temporary part-time housing inspector. Duties include conducting site inspections and housing code enforcement activities and working with landlords, tenants and other parties to obtain compliance. The preferred candidate will have considerable experience in code enforcement and inspection work, as well as strong communication skills and good ability to deal with the public.
Salary range $23.41/hr-$29.78/hr; hiring rate DOQ.It is estimated that the selected candidate will work 2-3 days per week through the end of calendar year 2014, with the possibility of the assignment being extended depending upon workload needs of the Department.
Current certification as an Assistant Building Official or Residential Building Inspector preferred. The selected candidate will be subject to a background check.

Department of Human Services - Interim Van Driver
The Town is looking to fill a part-time interim (grant funded) van driver position in the Senior Services Division of Human Services. Duties include driving a van to transport seniors participating in Mansfield’s transportation program. $14.58-$17.55/hr, appx. 15 hrs/wk. Public Library & Information Technology Departments - Systems Librarian
The Town of Mansfield, Connecticut is seeking applicants for our full-time Systems Librarian position. Under the direction of the Public Library and Information Technology Department Heads, this position serves as the first line of support for the use of electronic resources and library technologies. The Systems Librarian provides leadership and expertise in the development, implementation, maintenance, and use of technology by library staff and the public. Sample duties include:computer management and troubleshooting; planning and implementation of new technology; routine security and hardware maintenance; creating and maintaining the library’s website and social media.
Position is full-time with a 35 hour work week. Hiring rate is $55,728-$59,950 per year with a comprehensive benefits package including a defined benefit retirement plan. Assistant Town Engineer - Engineering Division, Public Works Department

Recreation Supervisor (Aquatics) - Parks and Recreation Department
The Town of Mansfield Connecticut is seeking an experienced Aquatics professional to serve as a Recreation Supervisor for the Parks and Recreation Department. This position manages a variety of recreation programs, activities, and aquatic related facilities.
