Public Works Superintendent

Great career opportunity!  The Town of Mansfield, Connecticut is seeking an experienced public works professional to serve as its Public Works Superintendent.  This upper-level division head position reports to the Director of Public Works and is responsible for managing the road maintenance, grounds maintenance; fleet maintenance; and solid waste programs.   Sample duties include: planning, organizing, and directing all operations programs (roads, streets, fleet, solid waste); coaching, supervising and evaluating operations personnel; assisting with the development of the department’s operations budget and capital improvement program; managing capital projects; serving as the Town’s Tree Warden; and supporting the work of Town committees, boards, and commissions.  The Superintendent oversees an operating budget of approximately $1,428,130, a solid waste enterprise fund of approximately $1,143,100, and a staff of 21 FTE.  The Department is responsible for maintaining 108 miles of road, 29 athletic fields and grounds at over a dozen municipal and board of education facilities, and operates a municipal transfer station.

Hiring range is $70,491-$89,174/yr with a competitive benefits package. This is a full-time exempt position.  The ideal candidate will have at least an associate’s degree in engineering, landscape architecture, natural resources or related field supplemented by considerable supervisory and public works operations (roads, grounds, fleet, and solid waste) experience. Possession of a CDL A or B license, Tree Warden certification, and transfer station operator certification are preferred.

Storrs Center Ambassadors needed. The Town of Mansfield is looking to hire 1-3 part time attendants for the Nash-Zimmer Intermodal Transportation Center in Storrs Center. Duties will include staffing the information desk located in the center, assisting with special events, assisting with litter and trash pick-up in the Center and around the Town Square, and assisting customers in obtaining transit information. Revenue Clerk

The Town of Mansfield currently has an opening for a part-time revenue clerk in the Revenue Division of our Finance Department.  This position performs cashier and clerk work involving revenue collection and customer service.  Sample duties include receiving payments, posting accounts, assisting customers and researching account data.  Coordinates parking ticket collections and assists in the collection and tracking of parking ticket and parking ordinance violation appeals.  Ideal candidate will have banking, accounting, or cash management experience with excellent customer service skills.  Hours of work are normally 15 hrs/wk, Monday – Thursday 10:15am – 2pm. During certain weeks in July, August and January the selected candidate will work 35 hrs/wk.  $17.84/hr, no-benefits. Preferred candidate will be subject to a background check. Site Server (Substitute)
Senior Services Division – Human Services Department 

The Town of Mansfield is seeking an experienced site server to assist with our lunch time meal program for seniors on a substitue basis.  The site server assists with preparing cold bags for Meals on Wheels and works with Meals on Wheels drivers to package hot home delivered meals. The site server also assists with preparing and serving lunch meals at the Mansfield Senior Center.  Cleans and sanitizes kitchen area daily.  Light recordkeeping duties.  $12.05/hr, approximately 4 hours per day, 9:30am-1:30pm.

Qualified food operator certification desirable.

Department of Human Services - Interim Van Driver

The Town is looking to fill a part-time interim (grant funded) van driver position in the Senior Services Division of Human Services.  Duties include driving a van to transport seniors participating in Mansfield’s transportation program.   $14.58-$17.55/hr, appx. Depending on availability of selected candidate(s), 15 hrs/wk for one candidate or 7.5 hrs/wk for two candidates. Possession of a public service driver’s license valid in the State of Connecticut required. K – 2 Youth Basketball Instructor positions available with the Mansfield Parks and Recreation Department. Job duties include planning and leading activities for children and having a general understanding of basketball. Work is on Saturdays, December 13, 2014 – February 16, 2015. Basic training provided. The Mansfield Parks and Recreation Department is searching for new Fitness Instructors, primarily for strength & toning, hula hooping, and step classes.  Work schedule is variable including evenings and weekends, with possibility for more hours as subs are needed.  Hiring pay rate is $18/hr-$24/hr depending on certifications and experience.
