Applications for employment shall be accepted only for posted vacancies. Each candidate shall complete the employment application. Resumes, transcripts, certifications, and other materials may be required in order to judge the applicant's fitness for service with the Town. Applications shall not be returned, but will remain on file for at least two years, after which they may be destroyed with approval from the State Records Administrator. Human Resources may reject any application which was not filed by the announced closing date for receiving applications, unless prior to such date an extension had been publicly announced. Eastern Highlands Health District
Sanitarian 

The Eastern Highlands Health District is looking for a full-time Sanitarian to enforce state and local public health codes.  Sample duties include permit application review, inspections, and investigations.

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, public health, or a related field supplemented by at least three years of relevant experience is required.  Candidates are required to be a Connecticut Registered Sanitarian and hold certifications in food service inspection and phase I and phase II subsurface sewage disposal. Annual salary range $58,502 to $67,830 with a competitive benefit package.

Eastern Highlands Health District
Community Health and Wellness Coordinator

Eastern Highlands Health District has an opening for a full-time Community Health and Wellness Coordinator. This position performs professional work in planning, designing, and managing a wide range of both employee wellness and community health programs.  Experience and knowledge of individual nutrition and fitness, health and wellness promotion, employee wellness programing, public and population health, community networking, program evaluation, and grant writing is a must.  Candidate must have excellent communication and supervisory skills.

Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, kinesiology, health education, public health, nursing or a related field supplemented by at least four years of relevant experience, including supervisory duties, are required.  Master’s degree and certification as a registered dietician or personal training highly desirable. Annual salary range $59,000 to $70,000, with a competitive benefit package.

Position Announcement - Director of Facilities Management
Mansfield Public Schools / Town of Mansfield, Connecticut

Position

The Mansfield Board of Education and the Town of Mansfield, Connecticut are seeking an innovative, dynamic, experienced professional to lead its Department of Facilities Management, which serves both the school district as well as the municipal government.   The Department is responsible for providing cleaning and maintenance services to approximately 20 Board of Education and Town buildings plus additional accessory buildings.  The Department has 29.65 full-time equivalent positions with an annual operating budget of approximately $2,097,040.  The Director of Facilities Management is responsible for: visioning and planning activities; coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Department; budgeting and grant administration; capital projects administration; developing, implementing, and evaluating departmental services; and developing and administering departmental policies and procedures.  The Director is also responsible for coaching, supervising and evaluating departmental personnel in accordance with collective bargaining provisions and other applicable HR policies.  The Director of Facilities Management reports to both the Town Manager and the Superintendent of Schools. 

About Mansfield

Candidates

Mansfield’s current Director of Facilities Management is retiring after 10 years of service to the community.  The salary range is $81,662-$106,154/yr with a competitive benefits package. The hiring rate of pay will depend upon the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience. The preferred candidate will be subject to a background check.

A bachelor’s degree in facilities management or a related field supplemented by considerable facilities management and supervisory experience are required. Extensive municipal and/or public school experience are highly desirable.  The School District and the Town will look to the selected candidate to provide vision and leadership to ensure that the Department meets the needs of the community now and in the future.  The selected candidate will be expected to maintain our tradition of excellent public service.

Work Hours and Schedule

The selected candidate should begin work by December 1, 2014. This is a full-time position. The normal work schedule is 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday. The selected candidate will occasionally attend Board of Education, Town Council and advisory committee meetings, some of which occur in the evenings. This is an exempt position eligible to earn compensatory time for hours worked in excess of 40 per week.

Site Server (Temporary)

Senior Services Division – Human Services Department 

The Town of Mansfield is seeking an experienced site server to assist with our lunch time meal program for seniors.  The site server assists with preparing cold bags for Meals on Wheels and works with Meals on Wheels drivers to package hot home delivered meals. The site server also assists with preparing and serving lunch meals at the Mansfield Senior Center.  Cleans and sanitizes kitchen area daily.  Light recordkeeping duties.

$12.05/hr, approximately 4 hours per day, 9:30am-1:30pm, Monday-Friday.   This is a temporary position anticipated to last 4-6 weeks.  Opportunities to work on a substitute basis throughout the year may be available.  Qualified food operator certification desirable.

Department of Human Services - Interim Van Driver

The Town is looking to fill a part-time interim (grant funded) van driver position in the Senior Services Division of Human Services.  Duties include driving a van to transport seniors participating in Mansfield’s transportation program.   $14.58-$17.55/hr, appx. 15 hrs/wk. Possession of a public service driver’s license valid in the State of Connecticut required. Springboard Diving Instructor - Parks and Recreation Department

Competitive Springboard Diving Instructor position opening. Must be an experienced diver with teaching experience preferred.  Salary range is $17 to $23/hr.

Before and After School Staff

Looking for responsible people to work at the before and after school program held at the Community Center and Vinton and Southeast elementary schools.  Experience working with children preferred. Weekday early morning and late afternoon hours available.  Part-time positions, $8.83-$10.73/hr.

Child Care Workers

Looking for responsible people to work at the Community Center Child Care Room, which is, a drop in care program for children ages 1-7.  Some experience working with children preferred. Fitness Assistants

The Mansfield Parks and Recreation Department is hiring Fitness Assistants who will strive to maintain a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment in the Mansfield Community Center fitness center for our members and guests.  Handling and lifting various weight and fitness equipment is required.

As an employee of the Town of Mansfield you will be offered a professional orientation, flexible scheduling including early morning, evening and weekend hours, comprehensive staff training, CPR and First Aid certification training, uniforms, and a fun and challenging work environment.  All Fitness Assistants must obtain and maintain a current CPR & First Aid certification.  Opportunities for certification will be provided if necessary.  This is an entry level, part-time, hourly position with no benefits.  Pay range is $8.83 - $10.73/hr. Selected candidates will be subject to a background check.

Lifeguard and Swim Instructors

The Mansfield Parks and Recreation Department is searching for new Fitness Instructors, primarily for strength & toning, hula hooping, and step classes.  Work schedule is variable including evenings and weekends, with possibility for more hours as subs are needed.  Hiring pay rate is $18/hr-$24/hr depending on certifications and experience.
