Beautification

In September 2016, the Partnership contracted with the UConn Program of Landscape Architecture to develop a “Storrs Center Public Spaces Study.” This Study includes recommendations for improving public outdoor spaces other than Betsy Paterson Square. Our current focus is on the courtyard area between Bliss and Amazon which the Partnership would like to enliven in terms of creating some small events that would draw people to the Wilbur Cross Way neighborhood in the downtown. The Partnership is looking for funding for the Wilbur Cross-Axial Ribbon project which includes planters and plantings, seating, and art columns. While the full project extends across Wilbur Cross Way and to the area between Tang and Kathmandu Kitchen, we are currently focused on the Bliss/Amazon courtyard side. The Partnership is also looking for smaller contributions for additional benches, planters, and bike racks throughout the downtown as shown in the Public Spaces Plan.

The full Storrs Center Public Spaces Study can be reviewed here.
