On Friday, October 14th, the Mansfield Fire Department will have representatives at Southeast to present fire prevention and safety education instruction.
We wish to give our students the opportunity to practice school safety and security protocols, including emergency and evacuation plans. In the next two weeks, we will practice a fire drill with a tornado drill to provide protection in the event of a weather emergency and discuss procedures of an emergency window evacuation.
During this time, we ask for your cooperation in two important areas: first, please review a plan with your children to stay with a friend or neighbor in the event that you are not home during a storm-related early dismissal or any other unexpected situation. In addition, it is also a good idea during this discussion to review your home emergency evacuation plan, so that your child understands how to safely and efficiently evacuate your home in the event of a fire. These activities and discussions are intended to inform (not alarm) the children. Please join us in a partnership to make our schools a safe and secure environment for our children.
A website is available for students and parents, which contains a variety of useful information. http://riskwatch.org
