Winter Welcome

 

The Mansfield Downtown Partnership invites residents and visitors to celebrate the start of winter! The Fifth Annual Winter Welcome will be Saturday, December 2 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM in Storrs Center. Enjoy a variety of fun activities, check some names off your shopping list, and join in a community sing-along! Winter Welcome is open to the public. All activities are free unless otherwise noted.

8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Storrs Regional FFA Annual Christmas Tree Sale at E. O. Smith High School

11:00 AM
Santa Got Fired and Other Silly Stories by Nappy’s Puppets
at the Ballard Institute & Museum of Puppetry
Part of the Ballard's Fall Puppet Performance Series, this is a ticketed event. For tickets and more information, visit bimp.uconn.edu/events-2/performances/

12:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Make your own wreath at The Flower Pot
The Flower Pot's friendly staff will help you customize your own winter wreath! The cost is $30 per wreath.
Classes fill up quickly - Reserve your spot today! Payment is due to guarantee a seat and materials

2:00 PM - 4:00 PM
A special jolly visitor will greet friends
at Barnes & Noble UConn at Storrs Center!
Look for the man in red to arrive on Paterson Square with some musical guests at 2:00 PM!

2:00 PM - 4:30 PM
Local musicians and singers will stroll and carol throughout Storrs Center all afternoon, including
UConn Marching Band Tubas
Rubyfruit
The Chordials
Husky Hungama
E. O. Smith Choirs

Stuff-a-Cruiser on Paterson Square
Donate an unwrapped toy or gift card for a child this holiday season.
The toys and gift cards will be donated directly to families in need in Mansfield
by the Town of Mansfield Human Services Department.

Ice Sculptures
UConn Dining Services staff will create art from ice on the Square!

Keifer's Kettle Korn
Enjoy fresh-popped kettle corn on the Square as you check out the ice sculptures and donate some toys!

Stroll through Storrs Center
Participating businesses will have treats, sales, and specials as part of Winter Welcome.
Check back soon for a list of participating businesses!

4:30 PM
Everyone is invited to Paterson Square for a Community Sing-Along led by the E. O. Smith Choirs!

8:00 PM
Boston Pops Holiday Concert
at the Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts
Keep the celebration going! Enjoy dinner downtown then head to the Jorgensen for this special event when the Boston Pops kick-off their holiday concert season right here in Storrs!

PARKING FOR WINTER WELCOME
Parking in the Storrs Center Garage is free for the first two hours and $1 per hour thereafter, with a daily maximum charge of $8.
