Birth, marriage, and death certificates are referred to as vital records. Certified copies of vital records are obtainable by any member of the public (except for birth records that are less than one hundred years old). Access to birth records that are less than one hundred years old is restricted. Social security numbers on vital records are protected and not disclosed to the public.
Persons requesting a certified copy of a vital record will be required to provide identifying information and payment. Please carefully read the corresponding request form for specific information. Vital record requests that do not meet the requirements specified by the State of Connecticut can not be fulfilled.
