COPE Mentoring Program

The Cope mentoring program will not take place as previously scheduled for the Spring 2022 semester. Virtual mentoring group options are available to elementary aged youth to either play games and  do arts and crafts activities with some amazing UConn volunteers on Thursday afternoons 4:30 pm - 5:15 pm.

Crafts, Games, and More! Mentoring Registration Form

COPE is an in-school, mentoring program run by Mansfield Youth Services that has successfully supported elementary school aged youth in our community for many years! COPE utilizes UConn students as positive role models for their paired COPE mentee(s) on a weekly basis throughout the academic semester. COPE meets once per week during the regularly scheduled lunch and recess times; therefore, no academic time is missed by COPE participants.

The objectives of the COPE Program are to:

  • Connect your child with a positive role model to build a relationship with.
  • Offer your child the opportunity to meet other students and build new friendships.
  • Provide a supportive environment where your child will enjoy engaging with their mentor and other COPE members in planned, creative, and fun activities.
  • Encourage your child to share their feelings and experiences with their mentor.

If you're interested in having your child participate in COPE please download and complete the form for their specific school below and submit them to your child's school psychologist. Priority deadline for fall semester is the week of September 20, 2021.
