[ARCHIVED] Families: Sign up for your Tour of Mansfield Elementary School

WBC_1180-HDR

Dear Mansfield Elementary School Families:

As we are now less than a month away from opening day, I would like to invite you and your family to tour the new Mansfield Elementary School (MES).  The school will be open for self-guided tours during the week of March 27-31, Monday through Friday, from 4:30pm to 6:30pm.

Please use the following link to sign up for a tour:

https://www.mansfieldct.gov/2427

The self-guided tour will allow you to loop through each grade level house and key areas of the building.  Upon arrival, visitors will be given a map with information and resources that will help you learn more about the building.  Staff will be on hand to answer questions.  While tours are self-paced, you will need at least 30 minutes.

The tour is designed to give you a firsthand experience inside this new net-zero, 21st century teaching and learning building.  While you will have a chance to visit various areas of the building and ask questions, the tour is not designed to be a typical school open house.  Although classrooms will not be accessible during the tours, they are all very visible through glass from the hallways.  Your child's classroom teacher will not be on site.  Specific questions regarding instruction and your child's program can always be sent directly to your teacher or our administrators.

Please note that building contractors are still working onsite and some areas may be impacted.  The typical shine and final prep will happen right before we open for students in April.  For now, please pardon the disrupted areas.

This past weekend, we hosted a campus walk and provided visitors with a map that highlighted outdoor features.   We produced a series of videos, accessible on the map through QR codes and smartphones, that are designed to help our community learn more about the building.   Please find the map here:

Look for more information each week including bus information, community tours, and the MES Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.

Finally, thank you and I look forward to seeing you soon!
