Dear Mansfield Resident,
If you own real or personal property, under your name or held in trust for your benefit, you are not receiving exemptions in any other municipality within this state or other, and you meet the income criteria below, you are invited to apply for the "Additional Veteran's Benefits" exemption.
If you are filing for the "Elderly Homeowner's and Totally Disabled Tax Credits" program, the Mansfield Department of Human Services will be happy to intake these applications. Due to scheduling requirements which prevent them from being able to take walk-in applicants, they kindly request you call the Department of Human Services at 860-487-9873 to schedule an appointment. If that program does not apply to you, you may file your application with the Office of the Assessor, please email assessor@mansfieldct.org to schedule an appointment.
Qualifying income for 2023 must not exceed $43,800 for an unmarried person and $53,400 for a married couple.
Please be sure to bring the following items to your appointment:
- 2023 Federal Income Tax Return
- 2023 Income Verification including but not limited to:
- 2023 SSA-1099
- Railroad Retirement Income
- Any pension 1099
- Rental Income
- IRA &/or Annuity disbursements
- Interest statements
- W-2 Income statements
- Unemployment compensation
- Workman’s compensation
