[ARCHIVED] Join the MPL Teen Summer Volunteer Program!

Are you a Mansfield teen who loves science experiments or arts & crafts? Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity to gain experience working with young kids or learn about public libraries? Join the Mansfield Public Library’s Teen Summer Volunteer Program! Any high school students and middle school students who are 12 or older can join- email MPLYouth@MansfieldCT.org for more information!

Teen Volunteers will be asked to help with:

  • Preparing program supplies, such as crafts and science experiment materials.
  • Supporting MPL’s weekly Summer Science Fun program by interacting with children during indoor/outdoor play time, crafts, & science experiments. 
  • Maintaining the Children’s Area by picking up toys/puzzles, organizing coloring sheets, restocking new book displays, etc.

**All interactions with children and families will be directly supervised by MPL’s Youth Services Librarians.**

When can you volunteer?

The following dates and times are priority volunteer sessions: 

  • Every Thursday afternoon from 2:30-5:30PM: Summer Science Fun 
  • Saturday June 22nd from 10AM-2PM: Summer Kick-Off Party 
  • Saturday August 17th from 10:30AM-1:30PM: Ice Cream Social 
  • + a variety of dates & times! 

Interested youth volunteers ages 12+ should email MPLYouth@MansfieldCT.org with their name, age, a brief description of their volunteer interests and schedule availability. MPL’s Youth Services Librarians will get back to volunteers quickly with further information.
