[ARCHIVED] Supt. Lyman to Host Two Programs about New Elementary School Updates for the Community

Mansfield Public Schools Superintendent Kelly Lyman will be presenting updates for community members and families about the new Mansfield Elementary School  at two upcoming programs.   The in-person presentations will take place on:

Monday morning, January 31 at 9:30 AM at the Mansfield Senior Center, 303 Maple Road and 

Tuesday evening, February 8 at 5:30 PM at the Mansfield Public Library’s Buchanan Auditorium, 54 Warrenville Road.  

 The programs are free and open to all.   

Board of Education Chair Kathleen Ward will join Superintendent Lyman at the programs to provide an update on the construction progress of the new Mansfield Elementary School, Connecticut’s first net-zero public school in Connecticut.  They will also share background about the goals for the learning spaces, details of the design plans, interior and exterior, and progress in the construction.

The school district has been sharing details about the school design with Parent-Teacher Organizations this fall in presentations tailored to families.   The Mansfield Board of Education also published a special edition of a community-wide e-newsletter providing details on the transition activities for students and staff to guide establishment of a new unified culture at the new school.

 The new Mansfield Elementary School is scheduled to open for the start of school year 2022-23.

 About Mansfield Public Schools

Mansfield Public Schools, with three Pre-K to Grade 4 elementary schools and a Grade 5-8 middle school, serves approximately 1,000 students. The three Pre-K to Grade 4 schools will be consolidated into a single school for school year 2022-23, the first net-zero energy elementary school in the state. Under the direction of Superintendent Kelly Lyman, the district works in partnership with the community to ensure each and every child develops the knowledge, skills and dispositions essential for personal excellence in learning, life, and work within our local and global community.
