[ARCHIVED] Update from Principal Barlow

Town of Mansfield_Charter Oak Logo_Public Schools_color

Good Evening MMS Families,

I wanted to reach out to all of our families in order to provide an update and assure you that school will be in session tomorrow, September 8th.  First, thank you all for your understanding and flexibility today as we worked with our bus carrier to address concerns.  As someone with a child at home, I recognize that it can be inconvenient and a challenge when school is canceled, so thank you for your support today.

Today was a productive day at MMS, as we had opportunities to review our dismissal procedures for the bus and parent pick up and identify ways we can further support our students during PM dismissal.  Our staff’s priority is to make sure that we all consistently do our part to support the needs of all our MMS students and families.

I just met with Superintendent Peter Dart and he shared that M&J Bus Company and central office had productive days working on addressing the identified concerns around busing of our students.  Quite simply, we are in a better place today.  Peter will share more information this evening regarding bus schedules, but I wanted to make sure you had this update as soon as possible.

I also wanted to share a thank you to our MMS bus drivers, many of whom I have had the pleasure to work with over the course of the last eight years.  Our drivers are a group committed to supporting our MMS students and hold the best interests of our children in their hearts.  While many changes have been made around busing, families that are able to may want to consider transporting their children to school in the coming days.

Thanks again and I anticipate smoother operations from our bus company, M&J, tomorrow.  Please know that our office will remain open until all MMS buses have completed their runs, so don’t hesitate to reach out in the event you are experiencing any bus-related issues.

My best,
Larry Barlow
