Mansfield Welcomes Allison Maynard as Human Services Director
Town Manager Ryan Aylesworth has announced that Allison B. Maynard, LCSW, has joined the Town of Mansfield as Director of Human Services. Ms Maynard takes over the role from Patricia Schneider who retired earlier this year. Allison started in the position on February 27, 2023 and was introduced the Town Council at their meeting that evening.
The Human Services Department oversees services to residents, such as coordination of food programs, rental assistance, transportation arrangements and other supports out of its offices at 303 Maple Road, which includes the Mansfield Senior Center. Mansfield Youth Services, which also provides support to Regional District 19 and Mansfield Public Schools, offers counseling and programs for youth. The department actively coordinates with other social services providers in the region to offer care to local residents.
Ms Maynard comes to Mansfield after serving as Director of Human Services in Somers, CT since 2019, and previously as Director of Social Services for the Town of Vernon. Allison is certified as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed School Social Worker. Ms Maynard has had work experience as a case manager, outpatient clinician and as an adjustment counselor with a public school district. As Director at the Open Pantry Community Services in Springfield, MA, she managed the agency’s $3.7 million budget, coordinating more than 40 employees and 500 volunteers to provide services to families and homeless individuals. Ms Maynard also has grant writing and development experience, serving as Development Director of the Northeast Organic Farming Association.
“Allison has strong ties to northeastern CT and exudes tremendous enthusiasm for working with people in need of supports,” says Town Manager Aylesworth. “I am confident she will be an exceptional Director of Human Services for the Town of Mansfield at a time when public demand for the Department’s programs and services is expanding. As we also face the need to upgrade the physical plant that houses these programs and services, Allison will help us establish our priorities with input from local officials and the communities we serve and with whom we partner,” he adds.
“I am honored to hav
e been selected as the next Director of Human Services for the Town of Mansfield,” says Ms Maynard. “I am excited to be joining this amazing team of dedicated public servants. My vision for the department is for us to compassionately provide services to our residents ensuring we are meeting their needs while striving to identify new areas we can assist people to live happy, healthy lives.”
Ms Maynard earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Springfield College in Massachusetts, where she was a member of the Phi Alpha Honor Society. She holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees in
Reconciliation Studies and in Social Work from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is proud of her service as a member of AmeriCorps.
