2020 JOHN E. JACKMAN TOUR de MANSFIELD

NEW for 2020!

We may not be able to gather together this year, but we can still ride! 

The 15th Annual John E. Jackman Tour de Mansfield will look and feel a little different this year. Rather than a one-day event, the Tour will run from June 6 through June 23. You are invited to share your experience with other participants during or after your ride via social media. Everyone who completes a Tour will receive a finisher’s certificate.

There is a $10 registration fee to participate (additional 3% online convenience fee applies). Any remaining funds after costs are covered will be applied to the 2021 John E. Jackman Tour de Mansfield.

• Once you are registered, print your bib (download the bib here)
• Pick your distance of 20 miles or 40 miles
• Pick your own route within Mansfield
• Complete your ride on a day of your choice between June 6 and June 23

One of the best parts of the John E. Jackman Tour de Mansfield is sharing the experience with other cyclists in our community. 

To keep up that tradition, we invite all participants to share your experience on social media. Let us know what your favorite part of the ride was, snap a photo of your best view, or share your favorite road to ride!

Safe Cycling during COVID-19

As always, all participants must follow the rules of the road. While all cyclists are encouraged to wear helmets, it is required by law that anyone under the age of 16 must wear a helmet while riding a bicycle.

Additionally, participants are encouraged to:

• Ride alone or with members of your household
• Wear a mask
  • If you are with members of your household, have a mask ready for when you are near other cyclists or pedestrians
  • If you choose to ride with friends outside of your household, you should wear a mask for the duration of the ride
• Maintain a distance of at least 6’ from others not within your household
  • If you choose to ride with friends outside of your household, you should maintain at least a 6’ distance from them

ABOUT THE TOUR

The John E. Jackman Tour de Mansfield offers a fun way to explore Mansfield’s historic villages,* scenic roads, and new downtown! Choose from three different routes around town, all of which begin and end at the Mansfield Community Center. Enjoy riding around Mansfield at your own pace, and build camaraderie with fellow cycling enthusiasts while sharing a group lunch following the rides.

The Tour is presented annually by the Town of Mansfield, Mansfield Downtown Partnership, and the Mansfield Community Center.

*The Town of Mansfield’s historic villages are: Merrow, Mansfield Depot, Mansfield Four Corners, Storrs, Gurleyville, Hanks Hill, Wormwood Hill, Mount Hope, Chaffeeville, Eagleville, Spring Hill, Atwoodville, Chestnut Hill, Mansfield City, Mansfield Center, Mansfield Hollow, Perkins Corner, Ridges, and Conantville.

ABOUT JOHN JACKMAN

The Tour is named in honor of former Fire Marshal and Mansfield resident John E. Jackman. John served the Town of Mansfield twenty-seven years, was an avid cyclist, and was instrumental in creating the Tour de Mansfield. He was always pleased to see so many cyclists participate in this event. John’s passion for bicycling inspired many to start riding and, through the Thread City Cyclers club, he made many deep and lasting friendships.

John died peacefully at home on August 8, 2013 at the age of 58 after a long battle with cancer. In naming this event in honor of John, we celebrate his contributions to cycling and the Town of Mansfield.
