The Mansfield Department of Public Works has hired a contractor to mill off two inches of the existing roadway in preparation of new asphalt. This process will leave any catch basins exposed; the road will be rough but travelable. This work is scheduled for Thursday, June 4, 2020 during the hours of 7:00am to 4:00pm and will be on Mansfield Avenue between Pleasant Valley Road and the Willimantic Town Line. We ask that you do not park on the road during this effort. You will always have access to your driveway. However, when the equipment is directly in front of your driveway, access may be restricted for a few minutes. Please drive with caution during the course of this work.
Following the milling of the roadway, there will be repairs to the bridge decks which may cause periodic closings of the road. Please expect delays in this area until the end of July.
The Town will hire another contractor to apply new layer of asphalt to the street surface. This work is scheduled for mid July. Driveway aprons will be repaired or installed, as required. We will place topsoil in any disturbed lawn areas and use hydro-seeding to re-establish any turf. This portion of the work will occur a few weeks after paving is complete.
