As you may have seen, the Department of Public Works has been completing drainage work on Browns Road. The Department of Public Works will now resurface Browns Road (from Crane Hill Road to Route 195). I would like to describe the work process so you will know what to expect.
PHASE 1: A contractor was hired by the Town to grind and grade the roadway in preparation of new asphalt. This process will take approximately one week and will begin the week of June 15th.
PHASE 2: After final grading is complete, a contractor hired by the Town will apply two new layers of asphalt to the street surface.
PHASE 3: Any required curbing will be installed and driveway aprons will be repaired or installed, as required. We will place topsoil in any disturbed lawn areas and use hydro-seeding to re-establish any turf. This portion of the work will occur a few weeks after the paving is complete.
We ask that you do not park on the road from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, during this effort. You will always have access to your driveway. However, when the equipment is directly in front of your driveway, access may be restricted for a few minutes. Please drive with caution during the course of this work.
If you have any questions please call our Administrative Office at 860-429-3331. Thank you in advance for working with us during this resurfacing project.
