Mansfield Public Schools will host a series of “pop-up” Resource Fairs November 23, 24 and 25 to help connect families with services provided by the school district and the community.
Staff members from Mansfield Public Schools, coordinated by Dr. Shamim Patwa, Director of Student Support Services and Kaye Jakan, District Literacy Consultant, will engage with families to offer suggestions on services to support students’ education, as well as other family supports such as how to obtain fuel assistance, connecting with school counseling, local food distributions and other services from which families might benefit.
The scheduled fairs are Monday, November 23 from 1:30 to 2:30 PM at 20 Renwood Apartments, 20 Dartmouth Road, Tuesday November 24 from 1:30 to 2:30 PM at Woods Edge Apartments, 264 Mt. Hope Road, and Wednesday, November 25 1:30 to 2:30 PM at Gramma’s Comfort Foods, 452 Stafford Road (Rte. 32.)
“Our schools are normally a centralized location for our school community’s social activities and support,” says Dr. Patwa. “This school year, however, we have not been able to invite families into our schools so readily, so it’s important that we get out to meet with them. We hope that we can provide some guidance to families who may need some extra support for their children, especially during this stressful pandemic and time of economic hardship. Our town’s youth services bureau and the schools are all here to help families,” she adds.
Refreshments will be served at each event including hot chocolate and donuts, and giveaway items will include books and activity kits for family fun at home. Visitors are asked to be sure to wear masks. The fair will be set up to accommodate social distancing and other measures to ensure all participants stay safe.
