The Department of Public Works has completed the installation of drainage pipe and structures on the portion of Mount Hope Road from Wormwood Hill Road to Warrenville Road (Route 89). The Department of Public Works will now resurface this section of Mount Hope Road. The reclamation portion of this project is explained in phase one below and is scheduled to begin on August 12, 2021 with the paving portion scheduled to be done the end of August. I would like to describe the phases of this project so you will know what to expect.
PHASE 1: A contractor hired by the Town will grind and grade the roadway in preparation of new asphalt. This is the reclamation portion of the project.
PHASE 2: After final grading is complete, a contractor hired by the Town will apply two new layers of asphalt to the street surface.
PHASE 3: Any required curbing will be installed and driveway aprons will be repaired or installed, as required. We will place topsoil in any disturbed lawn areas and use hydro-seeding to re-establish any turf. This portion of the work will occur a few weeks after the paving is complete.
We ask that you do not park on the road from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, during this effort. You will always have access to your driveway. However, when the equipment is directly in front of your driveway, access may be restricted for a few minutes. Please drive with caution during the course of this work.
If you have any questions or special needs during this timeframe, please call our Administrative Office at 860-429-3331. Thank you in advance for working with us during this resurfacing project.
