“Eversource is planning to begin construction on the Mansfield Substation Expansion Project starting in mid-November. This Project, which received CSC approval in July, includes expanding Eversource’s existing Mansfield Substation located at 140 North Eagleville Road to accommodate necessary upgrades to the distribution and transmission system to establish a more reliable electric grid in Mansfield. All permanent modifications to the substations, equipment and fence line will remain on the Eversource owned property.
The hours of construction are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, although some work on Sundays may be required due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. We have been working closely with representatives at the University of Connecticut (UConn) over the past few months to review this Project and to establish suitable work space needed to support these construction activities. In addition, we will soon be notifying other nearby property owners by mailed letters and door to door outreach, while adhering to our COVID-19 protocols. We anticipate that this Project will be complete by the end of 2023. During this time, there may be increased truck traffic in the vicinity of the substation on North Eagleville Road, although we will make every effort to minimize impacts to the extent possible, in addition to coordinating closely with UConn throughout the process.
In addition to the above project, over the next few months Eversource crews will be in the area supporting a separate UConn Project, which includes the installation of a new overhead distribution line that will cross North Eagleville Rd and connect UConn’s own generating station to a new UConn facility.”
