Mansfield Elementary Expands Full-Day Pre-Kindergarten
Mansfield Elementary School has adopted, for all Pre-K classes, a full-day schedule. Our program provides all Pre-K students with enriched learning experiences that support social-emotional growth and school readiness.
Families interested in Pre-K must apply through our lottery system. Lottery applications will be available beginning on April 1 and close May 19, 2026, with placements announced on May 26, 2026. To be eligible for PreK, students must be four years old by September 1, 2026. Applications will be weighted for families with established financial needs as determined by the federal Free and Reduced Lunch guidelines.
Additional Program Information
The Mansfield Pre-Kindergarten program provides children aged four with an integrated and developmentally appropriate pre-kindergarten experience. Programming is designed to meet the needs of all children. The curriculum is based on the Connecticut Early Learning Developmental Standards (ELDS), which supports the Mansfield Portrait of the Graduate. This is accomplished by providing children with opportunities to collaborate, communicate, think critically, and creatively express themselves. Play theory supports programming in guiding young learners to see themselves as capable and competent in a child-centered classroom.
The Pre-K program offers annual universal screening for four year old children. The program also works in collaboration with Birth-to-Three services in order to transition students to the Pre-K program if recommended by the Planning and Placement Team (PPT).
Transportation to and from school is provided. There is no fee for attending the Pre-K program.
