Recycling

Residents can either sign up for curbside service or use the transfer station to manage recyclables. Trash service includes weekly recycle collection. One truck with two separate compartments is used to collect trash and recyclables.  At the transfer station, most recyclables are free.

Not only does recycling make financial sense (you will save money on trash fees), it is required by state and local law. Residents are expected to keep recyclables separate from trash.

How to prepare:

All of the items below in the "includes" column can be placed together in the recycling cart. Place directly into the cart. DO NOT USE PLASTIC BAGS. You may put out extra recyclables in a cardboard box or bin next to your cart on occasion. For large cardboard, cut it down to a size that will fit in the cart. If the cart is full, place it next to the cart. If you routinely have an overflowing recycle cart, you may get a second cart by contacting the Town at 860-429-3333. The charge is an additional $6.20 per month.
