Economic Development Commission

Mission

The EDC’s primary mission is to promote the economic growth of Mansfield by monitoring economic conditions and making recommendations to the Town Council and to the Planning and Zoning Commission. The EDC plays a lead role in implementation of the Town’s economic development strategy and partners with surrounding towns to promote business development throughout the region.

The Mansfield Downtown Partnership provides staff support to the EDC.

Current Initiatives

The Town of Mansfield includes a federally designated Opportunity Zone for economic development as part of a census tract in northern Mansfield. This designation provides a federal tax incentive for investors to reinvest unrealized capital gains into opportunity zones through opportunity funds. Qualifying investments include a broad range of commercial and residential investments. If you are interested in learning more about the Opportunity Zone, please call us at 860.429.2740.

Business Visitation Program: To learn more about opportunities and challenges for local businesses, Mansfield EDC representatives are meeting with local businesses. Contact the Mansfield Downtown Partnership if you would like the EDC to visit your business.

Business Recognition: The EDC celebrates achievements and milestones of local businesses through features on the Town website and by issuing press releases to local publications. If you know of a business that is celebrating a milestone or other achievement, let us know!

Meetings

The EDC meets virtually on the third Thursday of every month at 6:00 PM.
