Special Education
The Mansfield Public Schools provides a range of services to all learners through multi-tiered systems of support. Interventions can include targeted academic support, social emotional skill building, counseling, and speech and language services. In some cases, a student might need more specialized instruction and modifications. These special education services are provided in compliance with State and Federal guidelines through the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). These services are provided in the least restrictive environment. Special education and related service personnel include special education teachers, school psychologists, speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, and physical therapists who provide services to students as outlined in an individual education plan (IEP). All special education personnel collaborate with general education staff to ensure students are able to successfully participate in the general education curriculum to the greatest extent possible.
