Availability: Bobby is available for in-person lessons this Spring on Wednesdays & Fridays 5:00-8:00 pm.
Bobby Luan is an enthusiastic and caring viola and violin teacher. He has been teaching for over 10 years and has worked with students of all ages and experience levels. Bobby is dedicated to teaching students with a focused philosophy that encourages fun, positive, and enjoyable lessons. He has completed his long term Suzuki Method Teacher Training with renowned pedagogues Teri Einfeldt and Christie Felsing. Aside from teaching, Bobby is an avid performer that enjoys playing music of all genres, including pop and video game music! Currently, Bobby is working on acquiring his Doctorate of Musical Arts (DMA) in Viola Performance at the University of Hartford’s Hartt School. He has Master’s degrees in Violin performance and String Pedagogy from Ohio University along with a Master’s in Viola Performance from UCONN. In his spare time, Bobby likes to read fantasy novels, hiking, and playing video games.
Ruth Shilling

Ruth Shilling is the author of the book, "Success with the Violin & Life: Strategies, Techniques, & Tips for Learning Quickly and Doing Well." Ruth received her B.M. in Viola Performance from the University of Rhode Island; and an M.M. in Viola Performance from the University of Connecticut. Ruth was the principal viola of New London’s Eastern CT Symphony Orchestra for 17 years. She also spent five years in Germany, where she played for the Berliner Bach Gesellschaft and Berliner Baroque Orchestra. She can be heard on the following CDs: The Holy Grail, Awake, and Desert Rain and has also recorded with the Eastern CT Symphony Orchestra and the Windsbacher Boys Choir. Ruth piloted CSA’s Violin for Adults classes, Chamber Music for Adults, an adult Fiddle Group and the Adult String Ensemble.
