The Willington Ashford Mansfield (WAM) Youth Diversion Team sees youth who have been referred for allegedly committing offenses that are considered to be a violation of Connecticut General Statutes in an effort to divert youth cases going to Juvenile Court.
The Youth Diversion Team is comprised of volunteers and professionals from the community who partner with police, schools, and the Juvenile Court to address cases where youth have committed offenses in a way that promotes accountability and support. Rooted in restorative justice principles, the YDT works with youth and their families to understand what happened and co-create a meaningful agreement that addresses any issues that may be identified and repairs harm done.
